Named so because of the coconut trees in the area and the many coconut shells on the ocean floor, Coconut Point was a mere 15-minute boat ride from Aiyanar Resort. We dove this site twice and it impressed us both times.
Diving Coconut Point
A fantastic muck site with some small coral areas, this was a favorite of the dive team while in Anilao. I saw my first, second, and third cuttlefish ever on this site, one of them a flamboyant cuttlefish in just 15 feet (3 m) of water. We also saw a dozen or so cuttlefish eggs inside a coconut half-shell. You could see their tiny bodies moving within the translucent eggs. It was incredible, to say the least.
Mantis shrimp hid in several places at Coconut Point, as well as occasionally making a run for it across the sandy bottom. There were many anemones filled with various clownfish, small eels here and there, and even a blue-spotted ray. Nudibranchs were easy to find, along with porcelain crabs and various tiny shrimp. While there were some black urchins here, I found several of the more vibrant variety too. Cuttlefish, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs and clownfish — what more could we ask for? Coconut Point a great site for anyone who's into muck diving.
